Milton Lake is three acres in size with an average depth of 3' to 4' and is home to large shoals of tench, crucian carp, roach, rudd, bream, chub and carp, although the numbers of the latter are strictly monitored to ensure that the tench and crucian carp fishing dominates. Anglers can fish in total comfort from a choice of 30 large wooden platforms that are generously spaced around the lake.
This is the larger of the two new lakes, both of which were created in 1991 to relieve pressure on the main lake.
Designed with anglers in mind, islands and underwater features were formed to provide fish-holding areas with both lakes being landscaped using thousands of lilies, reeds, trees and shrubs to provide an attractive focal point to this extremely pretty part of the valley.
Milton Lake is particularly noted for its crucian carp fishing, with large shoals of these gorgeous, golden fish that run to 3lb in weight.
It also holds large numbers of tench to 7lb as well as lots of golden rudd and roach, both of which run close to 2lb. Match nets of over 70 lb are a normal occurrence, and pleasure catches of up to 250lb are often taken during the spring and summer months.
The lake is also a very good winter venue, when permission is often given to use bloodworm resulting in some fine, cold-weather catches of silver fish, often with bags to 40lb being taken.
