Policy

How corrections are handled

A correction is accepted when it is backed by something that can be checked: a dated page from the fishery, a magazine cutting, a ticket, a photo, or a first-hand account from someone who was there. First-hand accounts are published as such and do not replace a documented figure.

Small fixes such as spelling or a broken link are made without an entry here. Any change to a fact, a date, a name or a weight gets an entry.

If you are named on a page and want your name removed, email the archive and it will be taken off. You do not need to give a reason.

Every page also has a correction button at the bottom, which fills in that page’s address for you.
