Predator fishing begins on October 1st through to March 31st and in addition to an impressive head of pike to almost 30lb, Bury Hill is one of only a handful of still waters in Britain with a resident population of huge zander. The lake record stands at over 16lb, but judging by the current growth rates it won't be long before that is beaten and then the British record of 19lb 5oz could even be in danger. Zander at Bury Hill are not only big but also plentiful, and there isn't a lake in the country to match it for size and numbers. Every year many anglers achieve personal bests with the big fish that lie in wait.

However, if specimen tench and bream are more your scene, fish to 10 lb of both species are caught every season as well as roach, rudd and perch to 3lb-plus.

Old Bury Hill Lake also has a small number of huge crucian carp, which run to 5lb, these shy fish tend to frequent the jungle and can be caught using bread flake fished tight against the reeds.

For more prolific catches of tench and crucian carp, Milton Lake provides relatively easy fishing with all methods and baits working well. With tench to 7lb and crucian to 3lb, sport during the spring and summer months can be hectic with individual bags to over 250lb being fairly common. Milton also has large shoals of Roach and Golden Rudd, which run to 2lb-plus.

If large numbers of carp are your thing, then Bonds Lake has huge numbers of hard fighting torpedo shaped beauties that average 3 to 5lb although fish to 12lb are taken regularly.

A prolific mixed fishery, all lakes are heavily stocked with an abundance of species which run to specimen size.

Old Bury Hill lake is particularly famous for its carp, pike and zander fishing although it is also famous for its big tench, bream and crucian carp.

With 450 double-figure mirror and common carp, 50 over 20lb and 2 around the magical 30lb mark, carp anglers have plenty to keep them occupied.

No matter whether one is casting to the island or float fishing against the extensive lily beds along the Long Bank using hook paste made from Bury Hill's own Ewos Pellets, there is always plenty of action to be found. Boilies are allowed from October 1st through until March 31st and winter fishing has produced some excellent multiple catches of specimen carp from both the bank and boat.
